Nail-patella syndrome

Nail-patella syndrome
Nail-patella syndrome, also known as “hood syndrome” is a genetic disorder that usually results in very small, poorly developed nails and kneecaps. This condition can also affect many other areas of the body such as the elbows, chest and the hip. Symptoms including unstable knees, limited motion in elbows, hyper-extended joints, scoliosis, abnormally shaped pelvic bones and kidney disease.  These deformities may produce extreme pain and muscle spasms
Medical Cannabis and Myoclonus
Medical Cannabis can be an excellent form of therapy for patients suffering from nail-patella syndrome.  Although it is not used to directly treat the disorder, cannabis is very effective at treating the associated symptoms or side-effects from prescription medication.  Patients who are struggling with muscle spasms and pain may benefit from the use of CBD lotions or topicals.  Additionally indica dominant strains can be used to treat pain, muscle spasms, insomnia, stress and anxiety.  Sativa dominant strains should be used with caution as their stimulating properties could enhance muscle spasms.
